First Class Honours Sports Therapy, Health & Fitness. MSc Physiotherapy
Megan graduated from the University of Kent in June 2003, with First Class Honours in Sports Therapy, Health and Fitness. During her training, she worked with the Chatham Football Club gaining experience in pre and post sports massage, pitch side first aid and rehabilitation.
After graduating, she returned home to Trinidad and started her own sports injury clinic. She worked for two years treating a variety of age groups and conditions. She liaised with coaches to provide and conduct training programmes to enhance athlete's performance. She gained further experience utilising her skills working closely with elite athletes in various international cycling and multisport racing events held in Trinidad.
Despite being asked to work with the Sporting Association in Trinidad, Megan's desire to expand her knowledge to other aspects of rehabilitation increased and she decided to complete a 2 year Masters degree in Physiotherapy at the Robert Gordon University in Scotland. She gained experience in paediatric, orthopaedic, out-patient, sport, respiratory and neurological rehabilitation during her studies. After graduating with Merit she moved to Petersfield and currently works full-time at Up and Running.
Megan enjoys outdoor activities such as surf skiing, running and swimming. She currently trains in the gym religiously and hopes to re-commence kickboxing which she trained in for the past 4 years. Having participated in many sports during her studies, Megan understands the demands that they can have on the body and how important it is to receive therapy and remain in or return to sport as soon as possible.
During her short time at Up and Running she has noticed an astounding number of patients suffering with neck and back problems. In order to tackle this, she has combined her sports and physiotherapy skills to design various classes which are run on a regular basis.
