After graduating from the University of Salford in June 2007 with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Acupuncture, Miriam travelled to China to complete further post-graduate training at the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She then returned to Salford to run her own evening acupuncture clinic and run some workshops on acupressure for labour and pregnancy. After a year out travelling and also of locuming in a very busy acupuncture clinic in Merseyside, Miriam moved to Portsmouth and started working at Up and Running in February 2010 with her own business; Yin Yang Acupuncture, and since then has been treating people with all kinds of symptoms.
Miriam competed at an international level with the Great Britain Judo squad and holds her 2nd Dan black belt and in the past has coached Judo to children. Although her days of judo fighting are behind her she has now turned her hand to the pursuit of ballroom dancing. Miriam has always been involved with sports and has competed in judo, fencing, trampolining and rock climbing. She has, as a consequence of this, suffered a variety of injuries and this is what brought her to acupuncture in the first place.
Miriam believes that acupuncture has something to offer for everybody regardless of age, sporting ability or health. Miriam has a special educational interest in treating women during pregnancy and has completed much of her Continuing Professional Development on Acupuncture & Pregnancy including a yearlong placement at the Shoreditch Spa multi-bed Acupuncture in Pregnancy clinic in London.
